TRAINING IS MOVEMENT.
MOVEMENT IS LIFE.
Fitness means to functionally train in a way that develops competencies in physical skills and enhance the three main metabolic pathways, so that, we are prepared for the unknown of labor and delivery.
Women should work out while they are pregnant.
In fact, it is the most important time in our lives to stay fit and nourish our bodies. Unfortunately in our society, there are a lot of misconceptions regarding pregnancy and fitness. A lot of what is out there is either outdated, or not supported by the current scientific literature. The book Exercising Through Your Pregnancy by Dr. James Clapp presented a ton of research when it was first published in 1998 but never made mainstream media headlines. This is where BIRTHFIT comes in! We are here to bring that information—and more—to light, and to support you, moms and moms-to-be!
Your body knows what to do. The heart and circulatory system adapt to exercise and pregnancy in a similar fashion: there are increases in the volume of blood in circulation, the skin blood flow response, the volume of blood pumped per heart beat, and the amount of oxygen delivered to tissues. The natural physiological adaptations the body goes through during pregnancy coupled with exercise while pregnant have tremendous additive benefits for the mom and the baby.
A fitter mom literally means a fitter baby.
